Manage Detentions > 'Move to'
There is an issues when detentions overlap the term dates. This means when a student misses a detention on the last day of one term and you try to ‘move to’ a new date in the next term, you cannot. The ‘move to’ drop down list is limited and only includes the detention dates for the existing term. The drop-down list does not extend to the detentions that are created in the next term, even though they may have been created.
To work around this, you must create a new instance of the detention in the new term and delete the old instance. Using the 'move to' feature is preferable and more efficient as it preserves the data. For example, currently in our school, we include the reason for the detention in the Pupil's Name field. Then , we update theses notes, if needed, with each non-attendance of a detention. Therefore, the notes can be extensive. Recreating the detention for the new term carry over is time-consuming and requires copying and pasting the reason for the detention to maintain an accurate record of the circumstances of the detention.
What is the term rollover process? Could this be included in the rollover?
Idea number 2. Create a notes field for detentions to keep an accurate record of rationale of student's attendance or lack thereof. (Detention Notes ?).
