This appears in some form or another a few times already, but I'd like to suggest not just the removal of specific, old dates, but a better system for determining options available. Either a manual system (so, in Applicants -> Config -> Portal, option to choose which years you want available e.g. from an extensive multiselect list, or - better still - an automatic calculation where you can specify an application cut-off date, after which the whole list rolls forward a year. For example, if we are accepting applications for 2021 entry until 1 Nov 2020, and we are happy to accept registrations from birth, we fill in some controls that say:
Cut-off: 1 Nov 2020
Accept applications from: birth (alternatives here being X years of age) to 11 [age on 1 Sept of entry year]
This could then easily be combined with an auto-calculated Year on Entry, another popular request here. If a specific Year on Entry is enforced (currently done by defaulting and hiding the field, but could be done w/ its own tickbox) Applications with an out-of-range DoB get an error and a greyed Submit/Next button.
With high applicant volumes and strict deadlines, this is an absolute must for us. Implementation of a simple manual system as described would make the forms workable for us while an improved, calculated system is developed.
I'm sure we are not alone in this, so please show your support for the idea!
