We think that it should not be possible for ordinary users to change the details of an event once it has been authorised. Once authorised we think only moderators/admins should be able to edit items.
I just came to add this idea myself as prompted by Support... 15 years later!
If we are unable to stop staff editing events, editing should at least prompt a re-authorisation request, or at the very least a notification to the calendar moderators.
